In 2018, while planning her wedding in Houston, TX, Christy Lynn Lee knew she wanted to design pieces for herself and her bridal party. What started as a desire for a few custom dresses turned into a full wardrobe for the traveling bride. This was the first Christy Lynn capsule collection. She launched her first ready-to-wear collection for Spring 2020 and since then her eponymous brand has quickly grown a steady following from the east coast to the southern states and is now available in over 50 retailers throughout the U.S.
The Christy Lynn brand provides luxury ready-to-wear for the modern, yet romantic woman. They believe that clothing should speak from one generation to the next and last a lifetime. Their collections weave together the stories of sensuous silks, custom hand-painted and restored floral prints, exceptional laces made in Italy and France, and timeless hues of color. Each piece is an invitation to continue its story through the different dreamscapes of real women. The majority of their pieces are manufactured in Brooklyn, NY by their long-time partners in the Asian-American community.
Special skills are important to the brand. They have a designer who hand draws a lot of prints for the brand. Their in-house print designer is also involved with re-coloring a lot of their vintage prints. They work with a vintage archivist that sources a lot of old Asian and European fabrics that they take inspiration from.
More than just creating luxurious pieces, Christy Lynn also believes that social and environmental responsibility is paramount in every aspect of their work.
About 30% of their collection uses a mill from Italy that is certified for sustainable processes on how they process their fabrics. They use mills that are certified in biodegradable materials and machines that reduce the number of chemicals. It is important that the vendors and partners they work with within the company are not discriminated, against or treated unethically.
